In class, we are learning to make websites. In order to make a website, you must come up with a central theme and then have your website appeal to a certain market, when creating it. Creating a website includes time commitment, so the more time you have to invest, the more inclusive all of your information can be. Two other large parts of making a website, are the title and domain name because these are two important aspects that will attract the market of people and make it more easily accessible. You must also make sure your website is easy to use and the layout is clean and effortless to read and scroll through. You must keep your readers interested so they will stay on the site and also come back to visit. You may want to link other pages to your website that pertain to your information or will help your reader get back to your website if they forget the link. Simple titles and relevant pictures will keep people interested in your site and will keep the site easy for you to maintain. If you were to make a website, what would it be about? What would you link to your website? What kinds of pictures would you put up to relate to your information? What website(s) would you look at to get an idea to create you own? What websites do you think work best in relaying information to their market? What is their market that they are trying to spread their information to? Do they have any links connected to their page?
I think that if I were to ever make a website, I would make one for my classroom later on when I am a teacher. It would be a great resource for both parents and students. I could post the class schedule, homework, and other events going on in the classroom. I would put up links to educational resources such as online textbooks and homework help. I could possibly take some pictures in my classroom of the kids doing different activities and projects and post them up there. If I were to do this, I could look at other teachers’ websites to get ideas. This would allow me to get ideas of how to structure the site and provide relevant information about the class.
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion, websites for stores do a great job at relaying information because they can sell merchandise online as well as advertise what’s in stores. I think the market they are trying to spread information to are consumers in general, and it’s aimed specifically at whatever demographic that store is targeting. Most stores have many links on their websites to different products, as well as company information, employment opportunities, etc.
If I were to create a website I would make one about photography. My reasoning for creating a photography website over any other would be solely because of my passion for photography. If I were to link other sites to my site I would most likely link sites such as professional photographer sites, blogging sites about photography, tips and hints to creating images, and I would post images that I’ve taken onto the website. I would show people what types of photographs I enjoy taking such as: sports, nature, people, etc. and this will allow viewers to see my array of images. I would most likely base the general layout and organization of my website off of a professional site simply because the professionals know what looks appealing to the viewers. If I had to choose a site I would choose Steffen Allen Photography . This site allows viewers to enter the site, browse galleries, and learn about the photographer. The only links connected to this page are links within the page itself. This site is a very friendly one, which is inviting to its viewers.
ReplyDeleteI am using weebly to create my website for the portfolio. One of the most important aspects of website building to me is the visual aspect. I think that a good website should be aesthetically pleasing. Although it is probably shallow to judge a website by looks alone, I am not likely to use an ugly site over a pretty one. The visual aspect of websites is very important to their marketing. A visually pleasing website, for me at least, is one that displays it's information in a usable and well organized way. It also is visually interesting, but not in a way that is distracting from the message.
ReplyDeleteIf I had to create a website I would create something that has to do with me. People may not be interested in what I have to say but I can make it known. There are celebrities who rise solely off the internet and do not even have any kind of talent. I think things I would post would be pictures of me and some of my photography and even some of my classroom. I feel like some people could benefit from this. Its would kind of represent a blog in a way but this website would be mine and no one elses.
ReplyDeleteTo get ideas I could look at other websites that people have made. Things they have added or chosen not to add. I would link to things that I link stores and music and stuff like that.
If I were to create a website I would create one for a hobby that I am most interested in. For example; I love to read. If I made a "book club" for people who love to read as well, we could start a book lovers net-work.
ReplyDeleteThere could be a page for recent issued books and old favorites. A page for books that just won the Pulitzer Prize or made Oprah's list. Also, there could be links to popular authors web sites like J.K rolling or Stephen King. People would be able to comment on new books, leave there opinions and pass on further information that would incline someone to read a specific book or not. Of course they would be filtered comments, I would only want constructive criticism to circulate on my website.
I would like the website to be more like a critique, for people who are just trying to find a good book to jump into but aren't sure where to start. They could get to know what is popular and what is not.Sort of like the website Rotten Tomatoes, except for books.
If I were to make a website I would make it about something I enjoy, for example I work at the humane society so maybe I would make a website about dogs or even more specifically pitbulls. I could make other people aware of the amount of dogs in their local shelter. I could inform people about the most misunderstood dog breed as well. Other peopl who advocate for pitbulls could read and enjoy the website as well.
ReplyDeleteI would have a professional website. It would be organized with different tabs and links for different information along with pictures. People would also be able to comment and share their ideas and stories. I would want my website to resemble that of Out Of The Pits.
If I was to make a website I would make it about something that I take an interest in such as English, and photography.I would link viewers to some of my creative writing as well as some of my photography. I would put up pictures of creative writing as well as beautiful and scenic pictures. I would want my website to resemble some of the aspects of tumblr, where I can easily link to other pages.
ReplyDeleteIf i were to choose to make a website, it would still be related to writing and other creative arts. I think it would be fun to form a site where people can post and share their own work and critique together. I've learned a lot about my writing and writing in general from workshops, i think an online version of a workshop would be both beneficial and fun for serious artistic talent. Incorporating visual and musical artwork would be more inclusive and create a variety of different interactions.
ReplyDeleteThe visuals would be those provided by myself and hopefully others who would like to contribute. There are a lot of websites people post to share their own ideas and information, this would be similar, but be more interactive. I would definitely link to the sites of regular contributors in order to showcase their work in full as well as link to myspace and facebook pages these contributors had created to get themselves out there. I think sites that encourage interactions and offer something, in this case peer critique, are often very successful. I would hope this concept would appeal to people and become a useful tool for painters, photographers, musicians, writers and a plethora of other artistic endeavors.
If I were to make a website it would be something which I am very passionate about, like kids and music. I work at Saint Catherine's Center for Children which is located here in Albany. If I were to create a website, it would offer tips on what to do or who to contact if they know of a child who is being abused or neglected. Tips, contact information, information on what abuse will look like, information on what is considered to be neglectful behavior on the parents part, etc. These would be tabs on my page. Visual representation is very important and visuals always catch my eye, whether they be in a magazine or on a website. The visual representation of my website would have a big title that says something like, "let's help stop child abuse! what can you do?". This caption would be bright and big to capture the attention of the audience. The audience of this website would be for anyone over the age of 18. I say 18 because that's usually when teenagers are going off to college, driving, and making their own decisions. The audience could definitely be younger than that, however.
ReplyDeleteThe pictures I would use would be pictures of kids in facilities or foster homes. Underneath the tab where I have information on what abuse looks like I would include pictures also of either bruises or burns on children so that people know what to look for. I might include a video, as well, of a child in a facility like Saint Catherine's. It is important for adults and anyone to see what these kids deal with on a daily basis. Links would be included on my page such as organizations like Saint Catherine's.
If I were to make a website, it would honestly probably have to be about myself. In portfolio fashion, I would showcase my writing, photography, and journalistic skills so the public (or my employer) could see what I've done in the past. I would keep things neat and clean, and I have a thing for the clean white background with simple font. I think if I added photos, that's where the color would come in.
ReplyDeleteI have photos of all sorts of things that I've taken myself, so it would depend on the subject as to what photo I would put in. But my domain name would have to be thought of at a later date. It would probably be something like a quote or a song lyric from one of my favorite books or songs.
If I were to create a website, I would probably do it on celebrities and what is going on in their lives. Just to keep an update for people that would be easy to navigate. I know that sounds far fetch but I've always wanted to be a reporter on E, to give fans what they are waiting to hear. I like to see what is going on in the world around me, not just in my life. Most of my friends find it interesting also. So I think it would be easy to catch an audience and keep there attention. I would divide each section up probably by popular males and popular females. Just so its that much easier to navigate. Top headliners would also be a heading and then I would connect links to other sources. I would have pictures of celebrities on who ever made the news that day.
ReplyDeleteIf I were to create a website, I would most likely make the major concept be about music that I write. I've done a lot of projects in the past, and have a lot of interests, but most of them usually tie into music somehow. Having pictures from photo shoots, and having a media player to play samples of some songs would probably draw people in. I also would link it between my Facebook as well, since that is probably the easiest way to get in contact with me. I also have a myspace page already with some music, but a website would make it easier to display the information. I've written a musical, so having the ability of several tabs would make it easy to separate my personal music from the music from the musical. This site would obviously be targeted towards potential fans/listeners.
ReplyDeleteHonestly if I had to make a website, it would probably be a portfolio like we made in class. If I were to make any other websites it would probably be for my classroom when I am a teacher to update parents on what is happening in class and offer them things to help their children with that correlates with what we are learning at the time in class. I would probably link other websites that can help students out with what we are working on in class, depending on the age, so maybe online games for students that go with what we are learning in math and such. I would put up pictures of my self, so parents can know what I look like before school starts, and pictures of the students while they are working if the parents allow it. I would look at websites that other teachers made to compare and make sure that I have all the information that is available for it.
